Neuroscientist and meditation teacher
Calm, when you need it.
A 6-week meditation program for high-achieving scientists, researchers, and life sciences professionals who don’t think meditation is “for them.”
What you’re experiencing
You’re analytical, always on, and good at what you do, but “switching off” your mind is a struggle. It often looks like:
You’re looking for guidance but not interested in anything woo-woo or vague. And if you’ve tried apps or casual meditation, they didn’t stick.
What to expect from the Clarity Method
In six weeks, you’ll build a realistic, research-backed meditation practice that leaves you calmer, clearer, and more connected to what makes work and life fulfilling.
Calm
- Calm you can come back to when you need it
- Noticing stress sooner, with a greater sense of control
Clarity
- Clearer thinking under pressure
- Space to see what you want, beyond the next milestone
Fulfilment
- Enjoying what you do, not just chasing what’s next
- Deepening connections with the people around you
How the Clarity Method works
Weekly 1:1 sessions with Dr Crystal Nguyen, live online.
Minutes a day of guided practice between sessions.
Emails between each session for support from Crystal.
Experience what real calm feels like, and learn a simple way to come back to it on high-pressure days.
Notice how stress and tension show up physically, so you can intervene before they spill over.
Explore curiosity, non-striving and acceptance: the attitudes that make practice easier to sustain, without turning it into another thing to achieve.
Practise noticing thoughts and emotions without getting swept away, so you can respond more calmly.
Develop a kinder, more empathetic way of relating to yourself and others, and notice the difference in your relationships.
Bring it all together into a practice that fits your life, with a clear plan for what to do, when, and how to keep going after the program ends.
Why this works when apps didn’t
When an app doesn’t stick, it’s easy to decide meditation isn’t for you. Often the app’s approach just didn’t suit you, and a recording has no way of knowing that. It can’t explain why a technique works, help when you get stuck, or show you how to use it in your actual day.

About Dr Crystal Nguyen
Hi. I’m glad you’re here.
The reason I love this work begins with my own story.
At one point in my career, I became fixated on getting to the next level. When it didn’t happen as fast as I wanted and I watched people around me move ahead, I took it personally. I felt frustrated, impatient, and convinced I was falling behind.
During that time, I needed something to help me cope. Two things made a big difference: I worked with a coach who helped me reflect, and I committed to meditating daily.
As I practised, I found enough calm to step back from the pressure I was putting on myself, and enough space to notice I had never actually asked what I wanted.
Once I could see that clearly, the answer surprised me: the path I was pushing so hard to advance on wasn’t one I wanted to be on. So I chose a different direction, one built around what mattered to me.
That experience taught me something I’ve built my work around: you can’t see what matters until you’re calm enough to look.
For me, looking led somewhere new. For others, it might mean staying on their path and finally enjoying it.

Apply for the Clarity Method
The Clarity Method isn’t for everyone, so I ask everyone to apply. A few questions help me understand where you are now, what you’re hoping for, and whether this program is the right way to get you there.
The application
Eight short questions. About five minutes.
Thanks, your application is in.
I’ll read it and be in touch within two business days. If it looks like a fit, we’ll set up a short call.

FAQs
No. The program is designed for:
- People who are completely new to meditation
- People who have tried apps or occasional classes but never built a consistent practice
- People who are sceptical but curious, especially if they’ve written meditation off as too vague or soft
We start from the foundations and build step by step. If you do have experience, we’ll use it as context and refine how you practise so it better supports your life now.
Most people who use an app plateau and eventually stop, because they can’t see what sitting still for ten minutes each morning has to do with the rest of their day. After a while it feels like a waste of time.
That doesn’t mean meditation doesn’t work for you. It means no one has shown you how it works in your actual day.
That’s the part I do best. I explain the why behind each practice using neuroscience and psychology, and I show you how to apply what you’re learning to specific situations in everyday life, off the cushion. The goal is a practice that fits into your life and supports the way you want to live and work.
- Feeling calmer during and after sessions
- Finding it easier to fall asleep or wind down at night
- Pausing and responding in difficult situations instead of reacting automatically
- Greater clarity about what they want and what matters most
- Feeling more present and connected with the people around them
- Some also see changes in objective measures, like stress data from wearables.
The program is designed as a minimum effective dose for busy, high-pressure roles. You can expect:
- One live session per week (about 60 minutes)
- About 15–20 minutes a day of individual practice between sessions
- Up to two emails between sessions if you have questions or get stuck
You don't have to be. The examples I use come from science because that's my background, but if you work in a demanding, knowledge-based role and have an analytical, always-on mind, there's a good chance this approach will work for you too.
